“As innovative and popular as it is, the iPhone may well be one of the worst offenders, for a number of reasons.

Even when you’re not using your iPhone but have it on, it still operates as a base station, transmitting radiation to you.

Further, iPhones tend to get a great deal of use due to their amazing plethora of applications, which increases your risk.

Data waves from your iPhone substantially affect your biology, altering intercellular communication.  But, iPhones aren’t the only offenders.  Though they may not act as base stations, every phone still has to connect to a base station.  As long as your phone is turned on, it continually emits EMR in an attempt to connect to that base station.”

cell phone teenagerAlarming new research indicates that children and teenagers are five times more likely to get brain cancer if they use cell phones. The study is raising fears that today’s young people may suffer an epidemic of the disease in later life.”
“The Swedish research was reported this month at the first international conference on cell phones and health. It came from a further analysis of data from one of the biggest studies carried out on the cell phone/cancer link… “people who started mobile phone use before the age of 20″ had more than five-fold increase in glioma, a cancer of the glial cells that support the central nervous system.”

“The risk to young people from household cordless phones was almost as great. Cordless phones caused a fourfold increase in risk.”

“Young cell phone users were also five times more likely to get acoustic neuromas, disabling tumors of the auditory nerve that often cause deafness.”

“Several studies have linked residential electromagnetic fields (EMFs) with human cancers, especially those of the blood. A new study now suggests that these fields may pose a similar risk to pets”

“…….coworkers….. focused their study on 230 dogs hospitalized with cancer. These included 93 animals with canine lymphoma–a common blood cancer whose origins remain unknown….”After characterizing the wiring in each pet’s home, …[the] team measured, whenever possible, actual magnetic fields where the dog spent most of its time.”

“Overhead power lines running along streets and up to homes constitute the biggest overall contributor to residential EMFs”… “factors associated with those lines also showed the strongest link to lymphoma. They included high front-yard fields (more than 2 milligauss) or “open secondary” wires (that have been associated with very high fields). Compared to animals whose homes were fed by buried power lines, dogs exposed to these factors faced double the cancer risk–and it tripled if the animal spent 25 percent or more of its time outside.”

…the most powerful statistical association to the cancer occurred in those 10 dogs whose homes were located very near a large, “primary” power distribution line. After adjusting for potentially confounding variables, researchers found that the dogs had 13.4 times the lymphoma risk of animals from homes with buried power lines.”

…” this investigation suggests that “dogs may act as a ‘sentinel’ species” for studying environmental threats to the families with whom they share a home.”

“KOLKATA: Cellphone towers could soon have to steer clear of schools and hospitals in Kolkata as the state environment department perceives them as a potential health and safety hazard.”

“A list of guidelines issued by the department has decreed that installation of base station antennas on the premises of schools and hospitals “may be avoided because children and patients are more susceptible to electromagnetic fields.”The order”…..”mentions that antennas be avoided in narrow lanes to reduce the risks caused by an earthquake or wind-related disaster.”…..”the antennas should be at least 3 metre from the nearest building and should not directly face it, and that the lower end of the towers should be at least 3 metres above the ground or roof. Barbed-wire fences should keep antenna sites barred to the public, it has said. And access to towers, the government has suggested, be kept to the minimum, even for maintenance personnel.”

“Cellphone firms have asked to put up warning signs and ensure that these are “clearly visible and identifiable”. A warning sign has been prescribed at the entrance of such zone. Such signs should carry cautionary notes discouraging people — even maintenance personnel — from staying too long in the zone. The environment department has suggested that the sign boards may contain the following text: Danger! RF radiation, Do not enter!

“Operators and maintenance personnel…should be protected from electromagnetic radiation, the state says. It has advised cellphone firms to educate personnel on the possible hazards from these devices.”

“Cellphone service providers were guarded in their response”….”researchers felt it was still too early to reach a conclusion ….You need to study an entire generation to come to a definite conclusion. But precautions are always welcome”…”There were complaints from several districts. Many schools said mobile towers were being erected on their roofs and in nearby areas….”

A study by an award-winning cancer expert shows that cell phone use could kill more people than smoking, it is reported.“According to the U.K.’s Independent newspaper, the study”….”shows that there is a growing body of evidence that using handsets for 10 years or more can double the risk of brain cancer.”

“…one of the world’s top neurosurgeons — based his assessment on the fact that three billion people now use the phones worldwide. That is three times higher than people who smoke. Smoking kills some five million globally each year.”

“He warned that people should avoid using handsets whenever possible and called on the phone industry to make them safer. France and Germany have already warned against the use of mobile phones, especially by children, it is reported.”

“The study is said to be the most damning indictment of cell phone use. According to the Independent, cancers take at least 10 years to develop, which has influenced earlier cancer studies showing relative safety when using cell phones.”

Health officials ponder farm’s dead animal toll. “Rabbits, goats – even a horse – are among the roughly 100 animals to mysteriously die at a Nova Scotia farm in the past five years. And with the recent deaths of a number of wild birds at the farm, the Natural Resources Department has stepped in and sent one of the animal carcasses to the Atlantic Veterinary College for testing.”….”after years of questions”….”the cause: a cellphone relay tower erected beside the farm. A tenant on the farm for the last two years,”… “the farm’s owner purchased the property about a year before the cell tower went up. Before the tower, the farm’s owner”….”never experienced problems. “

“When that tower went up, he ended up losing his animals little by little,” … “While domestic birds sang and a rooster crowed in the background”….a litany of deaths on the farm…”a dog staggering around and then keeling over, and ….a goat suddenly dying from a seizure. Four years ago, a horse fell over on its side, never to recover.”

“How many animals have died?”

“You couldn’t count them,”….”Over the winter, …a large truck box with the bodies of rabbits and birds.”

“It’s the latter that’s attracted the attention of the province’s Natural Resources Department. Upon hearing of robins, finches and other song birds dying at the property, department officials requested that the farm owner send an animal for testing to the Atlantic Veterinary College in Charlottetown.”

“College vets will conduct tests on a guinea pig that died at the farm, but it could be weeks before they have answers.”

Phone makers’ own scientists discover that bedtime use can lead to headaches, confusion and depression

“Radiation from mobile phones delays and reduces sleep, and causes headaches and confusion, according to a new study…. “The research, sponsored by the mobile phone companies themselves, shows that using the handsets before bed causes people to take longer to reach the deeper stages of sleep and to spend less time in them, interfering with the body’s ability to repair damage suffered during the day.

“The findings are especially alarming for children and teenagers, most of whom – surveys suggest – use their phones late at night and who especially need sleep. Their failure to get enough can lead to mood and personality changes, ADHD-like symptoms, depression, lack of concentration and poor academic performance.”

“The study – carried out by scientists from the blue-chip Karolinska Institute and Uppsala University in Sweden and from Wayne State University in Michigan, USA – is thought to be the most comprehensive of its kind….” Published by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Progress in Electromagnetics Research Symposium and funded by the Mobile Manufacturers Forum, representing the main handset companies, it has caused serious concern among top sleep experts, one of whom said that there was now “more than sufficient evidence” to show that the radiation “affects deep sleep.”

“The scientists studied 35 men and 36 women aged between 18 and 45. Some were exposed to radiation that exactly mimicked what is received when using mobile phones; others were placed in precisely the same conditions, but given only “sham” exposure, receiving no radiation at all….The people who had received the radiation took longer to enter the first of the deeper stages of sleep, and spent less time in the deepest one. The scientists concluded: “The study indicates that during laboratory exposure to 884 MHz wireless signals components of sleep believed to be important for recovery from daily wear and tear are adversely affected.”

“The embarrassed [manufacturers] played down the results, insisting – at apparent variance with this published conclusion – that its “results were inconclusive” and that “the researchers did not claim that exposure caused sleep disturbance”….”We did find an effect from mobile phones from exposure scenarios that were realistic. This suggests that they have measurable effects on the brain.”…”the radiation may activate the brain’s stress system, “making people more alert and more focused, and decreasing their ability to wind down and fall asleep”.

“About half of the people studied believed themselves to be “electrosensitive”, reporting symptoms such as headaches and impaired cognitive function from mobile phone use. But they proved to be unable to tell if they had been exposed to the radiation in the test.”…” This strengthens the conclusion of the study, as it disposes of any suggestion that knowledge of exposure influenced sleeping patterns. Even more significantly, it throws into doubt the relevance of studies the industry relies on to maintain that the radiation has no measurable effects.”…”A series of them … have similarly found that people claiming to be electrosensitive could not distinguish when the radiation was turned on in laboratory conditions, suggesting that they were not affected.”…”Critics have attacked the studies’ methodology, but the new findings deal them a serious blow. For they show that the radiation did have an effect, even though people could not tell when they were exposed.”

“It also complements other recent research. A massive study, following 1,656” … “teenagers for a year, found most of them used their phones after going to bed. It concluded that those who did this once a week were more than three times – and those who used them more often more than five times – as likely to be “very tired”….the director of [a] Sleep Centre, says: “There is now more than sufficient evidence, from a large number of reputable investigators who are finding that mobile phone exposure an hour before sleep adversely affects deep sleep.”  [Another director of a] Sleep Institute added: “Anything that disrupts the integrity of your sleep will potentially have adverse consequences in functioning during the day, such as grouchiness, difficulty concentrating, and in children hyperactivity and behaviour problems.”
