cell phone teenagerAlarming new research indicates that children and teenagers are five times more likely to get brain cancer if they use cell phones. The study is raising fears that today’s young people may suffer an epidemic of the disease in later life.”
“The Swedish research was reported this month at the first international conference on cell phones and health. It came from a further analysis of data from one of the biggest studies carried out on the cell phone/cancer link… “people who started mobile phone use before the age of 20″ had more than five-fold increase in glioma, a cancer of the glial cells that support the central nervous system.”

“The risk to young people from household cordless phones was almost as great. Cordless phones caused a fourfold increase in risk.”

“Young cell phone users were also five times more likely to get acoustic neuromas, disabling tumors of the auditory nerve that often cause deafness.”

“KOLKATA: Cellphone towers could soon have to steer clear of schools and hospitals in Kolkata as the state environment department perceives them as a potential health and safety hazard.”

“A list of guidelines issued by the department has decreed that installation of base station antennas on the premises of schools and hospitals “may be avoided because children and patients are more susceptible to electromagnetic fields.”The order”…..”mentions that antennas be avoided in narrow lanes to reduce the risks caused by an earthquake or wind-related disaster.”…..”the antennas should be at least 3 metre from the nearest building and should not directly face it, and that the lower end of the towers should be at least 3 metres above the ground or roof. Barbed-wire fences should keep antenna sites barred to the public, it has said. And access to towers, the government has suggested, be kept to the minimum, even for maintenance personnel.”

“Cellphone firms have asked to put up warning signs and ensure that these are “clearly visible and identifiable”. A warning sign has been prescribed at the entrance of such zone. Such signs should carry cautionary notes discouraging people — even maintenance personnel — from staying too long in the zone. The environment department has suggested that the sign boards may contain the following text: Danger! RF radiation, Do not enter!

“Operators and maintenance personnel…should be protected from electromagnetic radiation, the state says. It has advised cellphone firms to educate personnel on the possible hazards from these devices.”

“Cellphone service providers were guarded in their response”….”researchers felt it was still too early to reach a conclusion ….You need to study an entire generation to come to a definite conclusion. But precautions are always welcome”…”There were complaints from several districts. Many schools said mobile towers were being erected on their roofs and in nearby areas….”

“doctor involved in a recent international study that has found a link between cellular phones and cancer says she believes cell-phone use should be limited among children”….. “the study, which was conducted in 16 countries, says standards should be reassessed and tightened to prevent radiation from cell phones, and new technology should be developed to lessen radiation…current regulations do not relate to cancer as caused by radiation but to the health risks posed by the instrument heating up.”

“The time is past when it could be said that this technology does not cause damage; apparently it damages health,” …”Cell phones are already here, they have advantages and now we have to learn how to use them wisely.” …”The study…found a clear link between the use of cell phones and the development of cancerous and benign tumors in the saliva glands”….”The Israeli study examined all 460 patients who were diagnosed with benign and cancerous tumors of the saliva glands between 2001 and 2003. The patients were compared to a control group of 1,266 people in Israel who did not have tumors. All the participants filled out detailed questionnaires” ……”no increased risk of cancer was noted among the research group as a whole, comprised of patients who used cell phones to various extents. However, upon examining specific groups, they found that for those who tended to hold the phone on one side and who used the phone frequently or for prolonged periods, the risk of saliva-gland cancer increased by 50 to 58 percent compared to people who did not use a cell phone regularly. According to the research, the more this group used the cell phone, the greater their chance of contracting the disease.”

“The study also found a heightened risk among people who used their cell phone frequently and for prolonged periods in rural areas where there are relatively few antennas; the radiation emitted by the phone is higher is higher in these areas.”

“A number of studies in recent years indicate a rise in the risk of tumors in the auditory nerve, the brain and the saliva glands for long-time cell-phone users. However the present study shows the correlation more clearly. “It may be because in Israel we had a relatively large group of patients and because these were heavy users. In all the comparisons we made, use of cell phones was found to be much greater than the rest of the countries.”……”the findings underscored the argument that the “principle of preventive caution” should be applied to the use of cell phones. …”to test the correlation between cell-phone use and a disease that usually appears years after the exposure, many years might pass before a connection is securely proven between the phones and cancer or other health risks.”

If you’re unlucky enough to be sitting next to certain computer printers in your office, you may as well be sitting next to a cigarette smoker, according to new research…..

toxic particulate matter levels were five times higher inside a non-smoking office building on a workday than they were outside near a freeway. … what was causing this toxic indoor air. ……laser printers. The researchers studied more than 50 such printers and found that half of them emitted tiny particles of toner-like material into the air, in concentrations ranging from low to high….Breathing in these tiny particles has been linked to respiratory illness, heart disease, lung disease and cancer……all used toner instead of ink….”Even very small concentrations can be related to health hazards,” Your risk of exposure, … depends largely on the office building’s ventilation system.

Are You Surrounded by Electronic Smog?

Laser printers are not the only potential risk in your work environment. The electrical fields given off by electronic equipment, including computers, lamps, wiring and more, may also impact your health, according to research ….dubbed “electro-pollution,” charge tiny particles in the air including viruses, bacteria, allergens and more.

When you breathe in these particles, the electrical charge makes them adhere to the tissue in your lungs and respiratory tract, which can cause infection. Asthma, the flu and other respiratory illnesses can then result.

You can reduce your risk, the researcher said, by making sure laptop computers are “earthed” and unplugging electrical equipment when it’s not being used.

The air isn’t the only thing to worry about in your office. Your computer keyboard is also potentially hazardous…. you may be transferring two or more types of bacteria onto your fingertips while you type. …researchers found that every computer keyboard was contaminated with two or more microorganisms…the bacteria that was found was the type that could be detrimental to hospital patients:

·         All keyboards tested positive for a staph bacterium called coagulase-negative staphylococci. This is one of the most common causes of bloodstream infections among those hospitalized.

·         80 percent of keyboards contained diphtheroids. This bacteria represents a significant infection risk for those whose immune systems are weak, such as cancer and AIDS patients.

Phones, desks and your computer’s mouse may also be potential sources of bacteria.

“The first Stewart Report, published in May 2000, produced a series of sensible recommendations. They included: discouraging children from using mobiles, and stopping the industry from promoting them to the young; publicising the radiation levels of different handsets so that customers could choose the lowest; making the erection of phone masts subject to democratic control through the planning system; and stopping the building of masts where the radiation “beam of greatest intensity” fell on schools, unless the school and parents agreed.””The Government accepted most of these recommendations, but then… failed to implement them. Probably, it has lost any chance to curb the use of mobiles by children and teenagers. Since the first report, mobile use by the young has doubled.”

This is a little bit off topic, but so many people use these therapies to counteract EMF’s, it seemed important to share what was sent….there are three days left to write to Congress.

“… just spent three days reading, re-reading, researching and discussing the proposed FDA guidelines for “Complementary and Alternative Medicine” with two FDA attorneys. You can download a copy of this proposal for yourself at: http://www.fda.gov/ohrms/dockets/dockets/06d0480/06d0480.htm.

” this FDA attack on complementary and alternative health care, …considered it another “Chicken Little” rumor. On further study, I’m appalled at the speed with which the pharmaceutical companies are implementing Codex Alimentarius in the USA. If you don’t suspect the pharmaceutical companies control the FDA, you may want to research that further by visiting http://www.HealthFreedomUSA.org.

”This insidious proposal is designed to redefine every complementary and alternative health care modality and product as “medicine.” This has direct implications on the services and products provided by every alternative health care professional. There is no facet of complementary and alternative health care that is not affected. If the FDA adopts this proposal, all natural health care would be illegal even for medical doctors.”

”Essential oils, herbs, herbal remedies, homeopathic remedies, minerals, nutritional supplements, plant enzymes and vitamins are redefined in this proposal as “medicine.” Very simply, medicine is under the jurisdiction of the FDA and, by law, only licensed medical doctors may prescribe “medicines.” Anybody else who advises, advocates, counsels, distributes, markets, recommends or suggests anybody use “medicine” is practicing medicine without a license. This is a felony in the USA punishable by fines and incarceration.”

”Aromatherapy, auricular therapy, biofeedback, color therapy, homeopathy, hypnotism, naturopathy, neurotherapy, nutritional consulting, reflexology, sound therapy and wellness consulting are among the alternative health modalities being redefined as “Alternative Medicine.” This subtle change of vocabulary from “alternative health care” to “alternative medicine” makes all of these industries subject to control by the FDA as medicine. Only medical doctors would be allowed to provide, prescribe and supervise the delivery of these services. Anybody else who provided any of these services would be practicing medicine without a license and subject to incarceration and fines.”

”That’s the bad news. The good news is we have until April 30, 2007 to voice our opinion against this proposal to eliminate complementary and alternative health care in America. Almost 100,000 people have already filed their objection….”

”Please stand up and be counted. Go to http://tinyurl.com/2u7ghc and file your petition in support of natural health care, in support of complementary and alternative health care as we know it today. If you require more information, please visit http://www.HealthFreedomUSA.org or read the FDA proposed policy.”

“Today the incidence of autism in the United States is 1 in 150 children, according to published CDC reports, a horrific increase from the end of the 1970s, when the ratio of autism in our society was 1 in 10,000, before the cell phone, wireless and similar technologies were introduced into the environment that produce radio waves”….”findings from more than five years of research on clients with autism, and other membrane sensitivity disorders”…”point to electromagnetic radiation stress, which increases with the proliferation of cell phone and wireless use, as one of the potentially major root causes of the explosion of autistic cases in the past two decades.”

“…Since we know that electrical currents at microvolt levels in the body are of vital importance, it makes a world of sense to research the potential of electromagnetic pollution in the etiology of disease. There is no doubt that we are seeing a severe epidemic rise of autism in children and the widespread use of electronics and wireless devices may well be a factor that has been ignored”…

…[There is a] “potentially groundbreaking link between electromagnetic pollution and the crippling of cellular detoxification. This may play a central role in autism as well as chronic illness of all types in all ages,”…

“…This toxic pollution entering the body is created from transmitting data as information carrying radio waves….”electromagnetic radiation as a cohort effect with heavy metals as a strong component of the etiology of autism.”

“…with more cell phone towers being erected, more cell phones in use globally and more WiFi technology utilized, the risk for autism continues to rise…..”The epidemiologic curve of autism parallels too closely with the increase usage of wireless devices ….”

“Melatonin is the smallest hormone secreted in humans in terms of volume, but it has arguably as powerful effects as any of its more voluminous colleagues. It is a more potent anti-oxidant than any of our familiar vitamins, for example. Though first identified by Aaron Lerner in 1958, and now the object of over 20,000 peer-reviewed scientific studies, scientists are still discovering daily new and vital roles for this small but mighty indoleamine. Scientific, practitioner, and consumer interest in melatonin has never been more intense: a major international conference on childhood leukaemia in London last month, funded by the charity Children with Leukaemia (see: www.leukaemiaconference. org for papers) devoted much time to the way melatonin might benefit cancer sufferers and prevent radiation damage (radiation is the only known cause of childhood leukaemia).”
