The Emergency Medicine Foundation (EMF) is now accepting grant application for the 2007-2008 funding year. EMF supports an aggressive research program providing a vast array of grants to young medical students, residents, emergency medicine faculty and even seasoned researchers. Grants range from $2,400 for medical students to $150,000 for the research fellowship grant. The grant deadlines are December 2006 and January 2007. 2007-2008 Grant Funding Year Program Overview

Grant applications are available on the EMF web site at www.emfoundation.org. The grant applications and the overview are under the EM Research tab at the top of the page.

“As a possible health risk, it is especially important to identify cellular processes related to known mechanisms of carcinogenesis that can be affected by EMF. An unexpected outcome of cloning human genes has been the discovery that many cancer-related genes are very similar in all eucaryotes–from yeast to humans. Thus, yeast is proving to be a valuable experimental model in many areas of human cancer research. By exploiting the genetic and recombinant DNA technology for yeast, we will gain insight into the mechanism of cellular interactions with EMF. Additionally, we are utilizing the rapidly developing field of computational genomics (bioinformatics) to extend our findings with yeast to human cells to explore how EMF might contribute to human cancer.”

“If there was any lingering doubt that electromagnetic fields (EMF) can affect mammal cell function, recentĀ  historic sheep cloning by Scottish Scientists should put it to rest.To effect the clones scientists applied electromagnetic pulses to crack cell membranes and combine calcium and genetic infomation in the form of DNA.

The cloning procedure supports a long-held theory that transient electomagnetic pulses rather than steady state electricity are the trigger mechanism behind EMF induced cancer.

Because of many still unknown variables, the historic mammal cloning experiment carried out at the Roslin Institute in Midlothian Scotland, required 270 attempts before success.

Similar sets of variables must fall together in a destructive way when electromagnetic pulses cause or promote cancer in humans, explaining why most people exposed to EMF do not develop cancer. Therefore cancer and other possible health risks from EMF increase with the duration and frequency of exposure, and can be reduced through prudent avoidance.”

It is time for the funding agencies to realizethat we need to be asking new and different questions

about electropollution, EMF’s, and radiation.

There has been considerable research already done showing

relationships between many dis-ease processes and

electromagnetic frequencies. However, there has been a

limitation in the thinking so far, which raises new questions.

What if the cause and effect are not a direct link?

If the cell membrane is being affected by EMF’s, what effect

does that have on the body?

Would it always be the same effect on different kinds

of people?

If the signalizing enzymes are being affected by EMF’s,

would that always show up as the same kind of disease?

Why are some people more susceptible to symptoms from

EMF’s than others? Is there a genetic difference? A

cumulative difference? A geographic differernce?

A psychological difference? A consciousness difference?

A usuage difference?

How can one possibly set up a truly valid scientific study

when there are so many variables?

How long will it be before more people show signs

of cellular damage? How can it be measured?

What tests are there?

Since kids are on the phone much more than adults,

in some cases, are they likely to show symptoms sooner

because of the cumulative effect, or later because of

stronger immune systems?

These are questions that require the input of many

different kinds of professional to set up a good study.

It’s not so simple as saying A cause B.

How many people have to suffer before this issue is resolved?

It’s time to think outside the box!
